Sleeper Class

This is a portrait series of passengers in “Jammu Express” - a light blue locomotive coming from Tiruchirapalli to New Delhi.

In 37 hours, the train passes old ruined buildings, small clay villages, and enormous fields. The wind blows into the car and fills it with the smell of hot ground and dry grass. At the speed of 80 kilometers per hour, the train surges through India — from the bottom up to the top of the mountainous region of Kashmir.

This is an essay about the life onboard.
